What to expect from your Dietitian session
-
Your initial assessment session is the first step in working together with your Dietitian. Nutrition and health changes take time. Your initial assessment is the starting point of an ongoing process.
During your assessment, your Dietitian will:
Get to know you and your goals, including your health priorities, lifestyle, challenges, and what you would like support with.
Review your current eating & lifestyle habits.
Identify your nutritional gaps.. and opportunities for improvement.
Create a personalized action plan together, with realistic and achievable next steps based on your individual needs and goals.
Please note: Additional questions, individualized guidance, and ongoing support are addressed during follow-up sessions. The initial assessment session is designed to establish your foundation and create your initial plan moving forward.
-
We recommend meeting with your Dietitian every 2 weeks during the first few months of working together. This provides closer support to track your progress, make adjustments, and work together to find an approach that works best for you.
-
Rather than starting with a prescriptive meal plan, our approach is to provide individualized nutrition coaching based on your goals, current eating habits, confidence in the kitchen, and nutritional needs. This may include practical meal-building frameworks, recipe ideas, grocery guidance, and personalized strategies that help you confidently create balanced meals on your own.
Research and our clinical experience show that long-term success comes from building skills and habits, not relying on a "perfect" meal plan.
For some clients, a personalized meal plan is the right next step. If you and your dietitian decide this would be beneficial, we'll book a dedicated Meal Planning Session. During this session, we'll create a customized plan based on your food preferences, cultural foods, allergies, family needs, cooking style, schedule, dining out habits, and lifestyle. Because creating a truly individualized meal plan requires additional time and preparation, this is offered as a separate service.
